I am a little behind with my blogging as I have been very busy this week with some commissions. I love working with people combining their thoughts with my thoughts. A lot of my customers give me a vague idea of what they want and let me have free rein with it (which is a real treat, it is an enormous compliment because not only does it show they trust in me but also the fact that they like my designs). I think if you enjoy making something it definitely shows in the finished piece of work.
This week I have been working on, a set of allotment plaques, a couple of yarn bowls, a little vase specifically for sweet peas (it is great to be able to create something for someone with a real unique purpose which is special to that person), a french butter dish, an oblong butter dish and some 'Lentil Salad Bowls', (what are these i hear you say)????? Well...... I recently went to a party and made a lentil salad for the communal buffet (I always take things along in my own pottery, homemade food looks and feels so much better in handmade pots). By the end of the lunch i had a list of people who not only wanted the recipe but also wanted a bowl to put it in - therefore this is where the 'Lentil Salad Bowl' name originated. (photographs of the finished items will be available to view in the 'Gallery' section once they have been fired.
The Lentil Salad was so popular i thought i woudl share the recipe with you:
Green or Brown Lentils (not RED as they go mushy) - boilded in either vegetable or chicken stock (see packet for cooking times)
When they have cooked and cooled (this is very important) mix the following:
- Chopped spring onions
- Chopped parsley
- Crumbled feta cheese
- Chopped tomatoes
Finally serve in a beautiful handmade bowl. It is delicious and very simple.
Lentil Salad Bowls are £35 (exclusive of postage) please feel free to contact me if you are interested in commissioning one.
Have a great week and take care.
